IC Information:

Name: Owain (Owen Thalberg in the reincarnation)
Canon and medium: Fire Emblem: Awakening. Video Game
Age: His age is un stated in canon, but assumed 15-17. 15 in STE
Preincarnation Species: Human
Preincarnation Appearance: Here
Any differences: Pretty much the same, only less in shape due to a softer life style. Also since his father is unstated, he will have the default hair color of blonde

Preincarnated History: Note: This history does not take non-parental supports or DLC events into account, for ease of future appers (plus since the timeframe of the DLC stuff is wonky). This also does not state Owain's father, again for ease of future apps.

Owain is the first (and depending on who his father is, mostly likely the only) child of Lissa, the princess of Ylisse. But by the time Owain is old enough for this to matter, his royal blood no longer means much. He's born into a world on the brink of ruin. Undead creatures known as Risen have taken over, ruled by a dark god known as Grima. People are killed left and right, and each day is a struggle to survive. Owain's childhood is spent running from death with his parents, and hearing the tales of the world before Grima. A place of heroes and plenty. Of peace.

His own peace is crushed when, while protecting him from an ambush, his father is killed, taking an attack meant for Owain. Not long after, Lissa is killed as well, while using her magic to heal the wounded. Before she dies, she gives him her wedding ring. A memento to remember her by.

The exact amount of time that passes is unsure, but eventually he joins up with his cousin Lucina- the one to inherit Falchion, the Ylissian royal heirloom sword, in a crazy plan- to travel through time, save her father Chrom's life, and hopefully stop this monstrous future from ever happening. The two, along with their friends and allies- the fellow children of Chrom's paramilitary group called the Shepards, make the trip... but things don't go as planned. The group is separated, and Owain is left alone in a world he barely recognizes. For some time (depending on various in game choices, of course) he wanders alone, doing his best to help people and find his friends. And that's when he stumbles upon the Shepards while trying to stop thugs from attacking a village. It is during this battle that he finds the much younger version of his mother... proving who he is by showing her the ring her older self gave him. One exactly like the one she was already wearing. From that point on he is part of the Shepards, fighting to stop Grima's rise in this timeline.

During their travels he gets the chance to reconnect with his parents. His father once again takes an arrow for him, echoing his death in the future... but re assures Owain of his love for him and how it isn't his fault and he is more then their legacy. And while spending time with his mother she reminds him of the same... by convincing him her weapon doesn't need to be named: she has him to protect her, after all.

Owain goes through all of the trials of the rest of the army, eventually coming to the final battle against Grima. Where the Avatar attempts to sacrifice their self- the only way to kill Grima for good. He survives, and now with a whole world to safely live his life in, he spends the rest of his days traveling... to calm his wild swordhand, of course.

More details of the various in game events that don't pertain to Owain directly can be found in Chrom's history section here

Reincarnated History: Owen Thalberg, younger twin brother to Winifred Winry Thalberg was born in Germany, and spent most of his life in Berlin. His parents were a pair of doctors, so were pretty busy. But they were still loving and took pretty good care of their kids. To get attention Owen was occasionally a little loud of wild, but his sister largely kept him under control. His childhood was pretty normal, nothing exciting to write home about. His schooling was normal, his social life was normal... his quirky nature led to some issues with teachers, but his parents encouraged his creativity for the most part. Unlike his sister, his tastes were far from the sciences, instead focusing in on the arts and writing, though his grade were... acceptable elsewhere. The main difference being the fact that, once they were old enough, their parents joined Médecins Sans Frontières, an international health aid group. Which led them to being away from home even more often. But the twins were generally okay with this, learning to care for themselves... though honestly it was as much Winry taking care of him, though he tried his best to do his part.

His creative interests eventually lead him to become an avid roleplayer- usually in tabletop games and Live Action games. Though thanks to his sister's love of technology he also gained a taste for video games- something that eventually landed the two small internet fame running a let's play channel. Usually divided between Winry's gaming skills and Owen's funny commentary. Enough so that they started making a decent (well, for high-schoolers) income from it, most of which went to savings, though Owen spent more then his sister on his nerdy hobbies. GOTTA HAVE THOSE GIANT WARHAMMER FIGS MAN.

But things weren't meant to stay so peaceful. In a depressing echo of both their past lives, their parents were snatched away. Killed overseas during a relief effort. The event, occurring while they were visiting family in the US, set of both their first Echos.

Owen... didn't take this well. Always being louder and less practical then his sister, he told his family about the horrifying vision. A part of him leaped feet first into this weird insane occurrence; somewhat convinced that it had something to do with the deaths- that like his stories this was a sign that maybe his parents weren't really dead. The poor kid was frantic, and probably at least temporarily delusional. His 'crazy' ramblings are not taken well, and because of this they all kept close eye on him- waiting for a sign that he needed medical intervention... which made their move to Locke City full time to live with their aunt and uncle, all the harder.

First Echo: The memory of Owain's mother's death while healing others. Caused by the news of his parent's deaths in a very similar way.

Preincarnation Personality: Owain is a *character* in the most ridiculous sense. Even considering the weird people around him in the Shepards he is considered an odd ball, to the point some consider him right off his nut. Owain is boisterous, exaggerated and sometimes very very silly. When Chrom's army first finds his future nephew, Owain is trying to save a village under attack- all while acting, and talking, like the hero in a badly written adventure novel or cheesy play. But that statement shows he is more then a comic relief character- because as silly as he can be, he was still fighting to help people.

Owain is at heart, a young man with a lot to live up to, and a rather unusual way to deal with it. His parents were heroes. His uncle died fighting for the world- his cousin is the leader of what's left of their battered country. That's a lot to live up to, and in a way his over-dramatic Heroic persona is a way to do so. Be a hero like in the stories, then surely he will not only survive but save others. Be someone his parents could be proud of. His parents deaths effected him deeply. He frantically tries to get his mother to name her weapon- something he believes will imbue the weapon with a soul, and therefore protect her. And his father protects him from arrow fire, the same way he would later die in Owain's timeline, which causes him to break down slightly. Not only his parents. But other family, friends... so many people have died around him, something he thinks deeply about in conversations with Inigo. As well as their own concerns with killing other human beings. Not only that, but in the alternate timeline where Lucina doesn't choose to go to the past, Owain, along with Inigo, chooses to sacrifice himself to hold back the Risen so Yarne and Brady can escape with the gems needed to stop Grima. Owain is just as dedicated as the rest of the army, he's just shows it in a different way. He is silly, but there is more going on in his head and heart. He can be very thoughtful of the future, not only when he talks deeply with Inigo about their future, or worries about his mother. But in supports with Lucina he makes her a sheath for her sword: to be his proxy in case he dies. Something he is very aware could happen any time. Even though he plays the role, he knows he's not invincible. Not really the one that will save the day in the end.

Still, he is generally a happy go lucky and dorky guy. He loves to impress and make others happy with his theatrics, and can be very thoughtful. He is a kid at heart, even though he was forced to grow up fast- he makes up names for his weapons and attacks, and even writes over blown stories very obviously based on himself- something that in a modern world would... let's be honest, be very goofy self insert fanfiction: something he gets hilariously embarrassed about when other people find his writings. Though when someone compliments his imagination and vocabulary he gets giddily pleased with himself. He likes to play spar while making up outcomes to his called attacks; like a kid playing cowboys and Indians (though he gets very insulted when said spars are actually CALLED games. The benefits are something he takes very seriously), to the point where he is actually very skilled in weapon care and repair. A practical useful fellow wrapped in a wonky shell. He even bickers with and teases the other kids in the army. Beyond his happy attitude though, he also is one of the more emotional people in the Shepards, crying easily, turning bright red at the slightest teasing and even turning into a total sap when in love. He can get overexcited at the drop- running off with an average sword totally convinced it's a mythical weapon, or breaking into gross sobs over his mother in battle. He can also be a little, well, sulky sometimes. Especially if he's insulted or made fun of. He doesn't get MAD, so much as he grumbles and insults back after they leave and stews over it for awhile after. Just like a pouty kid. In the end he's just a normal teenager in very abnormal and heartbreaking circumstances.

Any differences:

-The first big difference is, that while recently Owen's parents have died, he has never had to live through the losses Owain did. He's still much more innocent about the brutalities of life

-Not to mention, due to living a much softer life he is of course much less eager to run into danger. The real risk of death terrifies him, and he'd be much less likely to sacrifice himself

-While he still tends to fall 'in character' and do his acting shtick randomly, it's somewhat less common in Owen. If just because such things are much less tolerated in a modern setting.

-Owen is also much more sensitive over being teased about his quirky behaviors (and that's something as Owain can be pretty sensitive over it). After his family's reaction to him telling them about his first Echo he is especially sensitive to being called 'crazy'

-And of course, now he has a twin sister. His relationship to Winry has shaped his personality slightly different from Owain's. He has someone that almost always understands him and sticks up for him, and he is very dependent on her.

Abilities: Note that in FE: A all characters have multiple classes they can change to. For ease of play though, I'm going to assume Owain was only a Myrmidon/Swordmaster.

Owain is a normal human, with normal human frailties. But like most everyone in his timeline, he is a warrior. His skills leans towards swordmanship- though at the sacrifice of defense. He focuses on speed and overwhelming force to take out a foe before they have time to attack. Though from his mother he has some aptitude for magic, it's not a craft he's ever really studied. More useful to him from her is the ability Galeforce- the ability to take a second action in battle. In rp terms he can attack twice for each single attack from his foe, making him deadly in melee combat.

He also has the Mark of the Exalt- a mark all his bloodline has the chance to show. It has no powers in itself, but it does show him as someone that can possibly wield Falchion, the family's blessed sword. He never does, and so couldn't get it as a Echo- but hey if a Lucina or Chrom shows up you never know.

Outside from 'powers', Owain is energetic, loyal and determined. He will fight to the death for his friends and family. And even they don't always find it amusing, he is the loud heart and soul of his group, keeping everyone's spirits up.

In more practical terms he is also a skilled weapons smith- able to repair weapons and armor, and spot flaws and strengths in just a glance.

Roleplay Sample - Third Person: Test Drive meme!

Roleplay Sample - Network: [It's late, and this post seems to be from a webcam. the room it shows is dark, and the person watching is cloaked in shadows, lit by the blue of the computer screen. In fact, it kinda looks like he's tilting his head in just a way to shadow his eyes on purpose.]

A group of bloodied heroes, battling an unknown and deadly foe. Their hopes strained in the face of brutal odds. But suddenly, hark! A new ally emerges from the darkness!

[He lifts his head dramatically... and knocks the camera over when sweeping his hand- also dramatically.]

Ah shit! No no no come back here!

[The view tilts dangerously, and re-centers right on his face. The overblown dramatics are replaced with a goofy grin]

Haa... sorry about that! Kinda ruined the moment. ANYWAYS so hi? Er, yeah... so hows that crazy supernatural numbers group thing going?
